'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the deflection before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an incredible comeback given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. During the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the opposition who praised the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
