Heartbreaking Update on UPS Incident: Fatalities Climbs to 13

The total count of victims due to the transport jet which burst into flames and plummeted has now climbed to 13, as confirmed by latest statements.

Mayor's Announcement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ memorial service, I was informed of a additional fatality that passed away as a result of the UPS flight 2976 crash,” wrote the local official in a online message. “My prayers are with the families, friends and peers of all who were killed in this recently occurred calamity. We will overcome this as one.”

Deceased Named

A release from the carrier named the pilots on board the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts are extended to each employee who has been impacted and everyone in our local community – helping you and ensuring you get the care and aid you need is our main concern,” the firm’s message read.

Inquiry Updates

Federal authorities disclosed that the freight aircraft’s left wing ignited and an engine separated shortly after departure from the aviation hub, causing the plane to fall and explode into a inferno.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is investigating the plane’s upkeep logs, which was in Texas for fixes several weeks ahead of the incident.

Aviation information showed the aircraft was on the tarmac in that location from the start of last month to mid-October.

“We are cognizant that this jet was located in that city,” said an investigator on the following day, without a precise period. “We will look at each aspect of service that was done, from the Texas period, all the way to the date of the journey.”

Findings of Critical Components

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were retrieved, and the power plant was discovered on the airfield.

The units – referred to as flight recorders – were built to endure accident forces and severe temperatures from blazes, and they appeared to be undamaged when found within the crash debris. Authorities plan on reviewing data from the recorders.

The plane’s last recorded information showed an altitude of 475 ft and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the crash.

Maintenance Record

Per FAA records from that date, a crack on a structural piece within the center wing fuel tank needed repairs.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which said it offers airframe maintenance for the company’s aircraft and manages a service location in that city, declined to speak, but stated it would cooperate fully when relevant authorities contacted it.

Services Restart

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport operations resumed last night with its overnight also known as nighttime process, spokesperson a representative said. The three runways at the airport were also back in operation.

The sorting center in the city is the firm’s biggest. The facility engages over a large number of people in the area, handles numerous aircraft daily and processes in excess of four hundred thousand parcels per hour.

Local Response

A candlelight vigil was conducted on the late afternoon of 6 November by the area labor union, which represents staff at the aviation hub, the organization’s primary shipping facility.

Worker representatives, which represents employees, began the vigil with a quiet tribute at 5.14pm, the estimated time of the crash previously.

“This incident was so abrupt, so surprising,” the mayor told the assembly of two hundred. “No one had a chance to part to any of those who we have said farewell to.”
