19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks his first title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after that period of 2023.
Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
